Situated 16 miles north of Kendal and 12 miles south of Penrith, our bed and brerakfast is an ideal base for touring the Lakes. Formerly a working farm built in 1708, New Ing has also been a coaching inn. Located a few metres off the once busy A6, we are at the north end of Shap Village, opposite the supermarket and just off the main road. The Wainwright 'Coast to Coast' walk passes directly past the Lodge. Prices from: £25 per person/night (dorm rooms from £14)

We offer a range of accommodation: rooms with en-suite facilities, rooms with shared bathroom facilities and dormitory/ bunkhouse beds which are also available for groups. There is tea and coffee making facilities in each room and guests can relax in our TV lounge. We also have camping facilities on our 2 acre paddock at the back of the Lodge.

We offer a range of outdoor activities: providing maps and information for walkers (and even a guide if required), there are mountain bikes for hire and we offer an orienteering course outside our back door. We can also arrange kayaking and climbing as well as wilderness camping and bush craft skills courses.

Situated directly on the Wainwright 'Coast to Coast' footpath, New Ing Lodge is ideally positioned for the northern and eastern Lakeland fells, and is only a short drive from the rest of the National Park. We are just 2 miles off Junction 39 of the M6, and can provide a welcome break from a long journey. Just over an hour from Liverpool, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester, we are also less than an hour from Newcastle and Preston.
